iLivid Download Manager distinguishes itself from many other downloaders in that it is specifically intended for media files. As most download managers, this application offers to speed up your downloads by using several threads and it supports resuming paused downloads.
This program has an unsophisticated multi-language interface. In addition, it will stay hidden in the System Tray most of the time while doing its job. Adding a download task is easy: you will just need to copy the URL into the clipboard and press the Paste Links button.
Through the Preferences window, the program will allow you to specify the number of simultaneous download jobs. One of its advantages is that it lets you have the video automatically played when a given download percentage has been reached. In addition, you can also customize a download folder.
In relation to most other media downloaders, iLivid Download Manager has the disadvantage that it does not allow automatic format conversion. In addition, while installing the program, you will need to be careful or the setup will change your default web search engine and add a toolbar to your browser. This last suggestion is valid for many other installations, unless you want your web browser’s working area filled with multiple toolbars.
In general, iLivid Download Manager is a fine application. However, it is my duty to tell you that in my opinion, there are much more versatile download managers available.
- It is easy to use
- It allows automatic playback of media files after a given percentage has been downloaded
- It supports playing a wide range of media formats
- It is free
- It lacks versatility
- It does not support automatic conversion after downloading
